Data Protection Directive

The Data Protection Directive is the General Data Protection Regulation’s predecessor. It dates back to the year 1995 and was replaced by the General Data Protection Regulation on May 25, 2018. In contrast to the regulation, the directive was not used throughout the EU in a uniform manner. Instead, it was executed and interpreted individually in the EU member states.
